Yes, to those who had me on watch in my other account, it's more sky pictures that I'm obsessed with. But it's really good quality ones this time! I had a roll of film developed earlier today, so these are from actual film and not my cruddy digital. This is the very first time I've ever been able to capture stars (look VERY hard into the darkness above the trees, they're there!) so this pic is kinda special to me. Hope you like, its of our sunrise here in Alabama :)

Edit 4-24-04 (at 10 pm at night, lol) Updated with larger, more clear version.

That's a gorgeous photo, and your title is so fitting. Excellent.

it is quite grainy... and flat there aren't any really bright colors and nothing gets very dark. and alot of detail is lost in the trees which havent turned out very dark... the range of solors just isnt there. many of my favorite sky and sunset shots have such vibrant colors that they catch your eye... this one is pretty bland.

And if you want some good sky shots, try to leave out the power lines, because they are quite distracting if they arent a main part of your shot.

Well, my scanner certainly isn't helping.. I need to get a new one, dammit.. maybe the quality would boost it then. The picture in real life is absolutely gorgeous. I agree about the powerlines... that's actually pretty decent amount compared to the damn traintracks they make around my road areas.

damn traintracks? i think you can get some pretty awesome shots of train tracks, i have a couple shots in my gallery around ome train tracks five minutes from my house. yeah sometimes a scanner can mess thing up pretty badly, but if toy have really great shots, try to find somewhere that might have a negative scanner that you can use. i know at my High School we had one that anyone who knew how to use it could use to scan, and also at the university i go to you could go in with whatever you had, and the people that monitered the lab could help you with what you needed... it might be something to look into if you have some spare time/have the resources avaliable... all i have to say is dont waste your money at your photo lab and have them scan them for you... it is a rip off.

Lol, I love traintrack shots, but not when their made up of power lines :\ I've never heard of a negitive scanner to be honest, but I could ask around. I start college in August, so maybe they would have one there. That would totally rock. I think CLEANING mine would help, so we'll see.

cleaning it could possibly help a little, but i dont think simply a cleaning would change the range of solors it micks up, however i could be wrong. and film scanners are awesome... you can scan at such high resolutions and since it is direct from the negatives you have, you dont have to worry about the density corrections that the wallgreens or whatever 1hr places you get your stuff developed at will make for you. usually what will happen when you get all of the grain and flatness in your shots (nightshots are prone to this) they will be under-exposed, and the brights wont be existant, but the printer will compensate for this by adding more exposure to the paper, and it will intensify the grain, and it will sometimes knock your dark parts, in this case the trees, into a gray area and convey an overall flatness to your shots. the best way to compensate for this is to give them specific directions NOT to correct for density. this will take the default settings from the printer to make every single piece of paper exposed from the negatives the same time. the only way you would do this however is if you completely trusted your camera to give you the right exposure. you might want to take the next roll of this type and tell the lab to do that... but you cant get upset if they all turn out too dark or too light, it was a learning experience and it ill show you how your camera performs in these conditions, so you can possibly compensate for it next time.

my golden rule is, a good print will only come from a good negative.

Kelly: Jamie... too much information.
Cody: But, Jamie tells everybody on the internet he's a virgin.
Kelly: That isn't relevant. I don't want him discussing his sex life in school.
Jay: What sex life?
